๐๏ธ Lesson Plan
Anticipatory Set
As a bellringer, the teacher will show a collection of images. Each image should relate to or represent one of the vocabulary words introduced in Lesson 9 - Mood & Tone. The teacher will give the class a few minutes to review the images and match them with the most appropriate vocabulary word. The teacher will take attendance as students think. Once sufficient time has elapsed, the class will share their responses and rationales. The class will then review the agenda and objectives.
Developmental Activity
The class will finish reading aloud from "The Tell-Tale Heart," using the Equity Sticks strategy to switch off readers on a paragraph-by-paragraph basis. The teacher will pause to explain key vocabulary, to check for understanding, and to highlight stylistic features and choices Poe makes to create the tone.
Closure
The teacher will show the 1953 animated version of "The Tell-Tale Heart" to assist students' comprehension of the story. Students will have the remainder of the period to finish "The Tell-Tale Heart" Reading Check.
